3rd ETWG meeting under India’s G20 Presidency begins in Mumbai
New Delhi, May 15:-- Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Raosaheb Danve said G20 delegates are discussing various alternatives to fossil fuels in Energy Transitions Working Group's (ETWG) 3rd Meeting under India’s G20 Presidency in Mumbai today.
India has decided to reduce carbon emissions to zero by 2070. Various initiatives being undertaken by other countries in this direction are being discussed, he added.
Secretary, Ministry of Power and Chair of Energy Transition Working Group Mr. Alok Kumar also addressed the inaugural session of the meeting.
Over 100 delegates representing G20 member countries, special invitee countries and International Organisations such as International Energy Agency (IEA), World Bank and World Energy Council India are deliberating on Priority Areas during this three-day meeting.
The six priority areas, outlined under India’s Presidency, include Energy transition through addressing technology gaps, Low-cost financing for energy transition, Energy security and diversified supply chains, Energy efficiency, industrial low carbon transitions and responsible consumption, Fuels for Future and Universal access to clean energy and just, affordable, and inclusive energy transition pathway.
