42 kg poppy straw seized, smuggler arrested

 UDHAMPUR, September 16 (HS): Continuing its drive against drug peddlers, Police Party of Police Station Udhampur today apprehended one narcotics smuggler and seized 42 kg of poppy straw from his possession.



 The consignment was being smuggled in a truck (HR45A9099), which was intercepted by a Police party, led by SHO Udhampur, Vijay Singh Choudhary at Jakhani naka point, National Highway, Udhampur. During search, 42 kg of poppy straw like substance was recovered from the truck, following which Police arrested its driver, identified as Darshan Singh son of Shingara Singh of Chamkor Road, Fatehgarh Punjab. Police also seized the truck as well as the poppy straw and registered a case FIR NO. 488/2020 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act at PS Udhampur. Further investigation is underway, said Police.
