Accused escapes from police custody jumped in Ganges

 RISHIKESH: An accused, who was taken into police custody from Uttarkashi district, escaped from Laxman Jhula police station in Pauri district and jumped into the Ganges. This has created a stir in the police. Senior Superintendent of Police and Police Officer Laxman Jhula have reached the police station to investigate into the matter.

Kedar, a resident of Uttarkashi, was taken into custody by the police in some case, who was kept in custody with a constable in the lockup of the police station in the first floor of the new building near the LIU office located in Laxman Jhula police station on Monday. How ever,the accused escaped by dodging the police personnel posted in the police station on some pretext. When he could not be seen by the police personnel, they started looking for him, but he could not be traced.



 Meanwhile,police got information that a young man jumped into the Ganges from Kirmola Ghat. The police station informed the matter to the SDRF located in Dhalwala, but they were given incomplete information by the police station without revealing the name. The SDRF team was conducting a search operation in Bhimgada, Haridwar.

Pauri Senior Superintendent of Police Yashwant Singh Chauhan reached Laxman Jhula police station along with the police officer. He questioned the station in-charge Santosh Singh Kunwar for hours. The station in-charge is under investigation regarding this matter. Senior Superintendent of Police said that when Kedar jumped into the Ganges, the station in-charge knew his name but he did not tell the name to the SDRF team even for 24 hours, which is under suspicion.
