Angul: Outfit threatens stir opposing pollution and displacement
ANGUL: The leaders of Talcher-Angul Banchao Andolan have threatened to launch an all-out agitation in the district against rampant pollution and indiscriminate displacement causing massive human hazards while the state and central government are looking on callously. A meeting of this outfit was held at Kaniha under the chairmanship of convener of convener Talcher-Angul Banchao Andolan Jagadananda Pradhan wherein leaders from all walks of life had attended and spoke on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Pradhan said while pollution is at its peaks people of the district p and particularly of Talcher have de have been deprived of proper health, education, road and other common facilities. He said that a couple of public sector and private sector units are operating and about to operate in the district. But no one is addressing the issue of displacement and pollution thus making the lives of people hell.
He said if opposition of the people are made industries use brute police force to quell them. The water of river Brahmani is getting highly polluted due to release of industrial effluents. People are getting disease prone due to want of proper air and water to live in. He said people of Kaniha are worst suffer due to operation of coal mine and power plant. Pradhan warned that if these issues are not addressed by the authorities then there will be an agitation in future paralysing all the industries in the district.
