Angul: Tusker tramples death one more man in Bantala

Angul:There is no  end of killing of human being by elephants in Bantala Range of Angul forest division.In the continuing spree of deaths one more man lost his life today by a lone tusker.The deceased has been identified as  Bhabagrahi Jena,60 of Basala village.

 As soon as the killing of the man by the tusker spread in the area the  villagers got angry and blocked Angul-Basala road demanding forest department steps to tackle the elephant menace in Bantala range.

 

  The strike was called off after forest officials  assured a step to chase the elephants.The villagers demanded payment of compensation and solar fencing around the village to keep the elephants at bay.

 Bantala ranger Niladri Sahoo said Bhabagrahi in the morning went to nearby jungle to attend the call of the nature.He was having face to face with a lone tusker which had come from Angul range area.The tusker had trampled him to death on the spot.His body was sent for the post mortem and rupees 40,000 has been provided for funeral expenses.

 Bantala forest range is in the news as so far 15 people died by the elephants.Taking the note of this menace government has sanctioned rupees 4.65 crores for the Bantala range area to tackle pestering elephant menace.This money which will be spent for solar fencing and for other measures are yet to be utilized on the ground.Meanwhile,elephants continue to kill people in this range unabated fuelling public anger against forest department.
