BBC Modi documentary Screened held in Hyderabad University
Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has complained to the university administration about the screening of the documentary. According to ABVP, permission was not taken from the administration before the screening. The University of Hyderabad administration has sought a report on the matter from the campus security department.
The All India Council has asked the Hyderabad University administration to take action against the screening event, citing the Centre's decision to block the documentary. According to information, around 70 to 80 students were involved in the documentary screening. ABVP central working committee member B Shravan Raj told that we want to make it clear that we have not yet gone to the police or staged a protest on this issue. We have contacted the university administration only as they are the concerned authority. Another ABVP student leader named Manish told that the screening was done inside the campus without permission.
Hyderabad University Students Union President Abhishek Nandan accused the ABVP of acting as an agent of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He said it is not a film made by any banned organization, but a media organization with an international network. It is not prohibited by the government or any court. We believe that a culture of discussion and debate should be encouraged in university campuses.
