Bharat Biotech's nasal corona vaccine launched,costs Rs 800 per dose

NEW DELHI: India's first nasal vaccine has been launched by the Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh today.The vaccine was developed by Bharat Biotech's 'Made in India' Covid-19 nasal vaccine 'Incovac'.

Bharat Biotech's nasal vaccine will not require any injection, it will be administered through nasal drops. According to Bharat Biotech, the government will get Rs 325 per dose of nasal vaccine iNCOVACC, while private hospitals will get Rs 800.

The nasal vaccine can be taken as a booster dose, which can be taken by people taking covaxin and covishield. It has to be taken at intervals of 28 days in both noses. For example, if a person has already received a precautionary dose then it is not for that person. This is for those who have not yet taken the precautionary dose.' This nasal vaccine was approved by the central government on December 23.

Managing Director and Chairman of Bharat Biotech Dr. Krishna Ella had told some time ago that four drops of nasal vaccine like polio is enough. Two drops will be put in both nostrils. This is a single dose vaccine, so tracking is easy. Its side effects are also less than the intramuscular vaccine. Another big advantage of this is that the waste of needles and syringes will also be reduced.
