Bihar: Four killed, including three children, during Chhath puja festival
Patna, 11 November (FASTMAIL) - Four people, including three children, have died due to drowning in Lakhisarai, Purnia and Araria during Chhat puja festival. Two children died in Narpatganj of Araria and one in Lakhisarai while one died in Purnia due to drowning.
The first incident has taken place in Lakhisarai district. A 12-year-old teenager died after drowning in a river in Pipariya police station area of ??Lakhisarai. In Tadipar Tola of Ramchandrapur Panchayat, 12-year-old Sant Kumar drowned in Haruhar river. This incident happened while giving Arghya. After much searching, his body was finally recovered from the river.
Two people died due to drowning while constructing a ghat in JBC canal of Narpatganj block. 25-year-old Babulal Paswan died from drowning while 10-year-old Suman who reached to build ghat with his grandfather also died from drowning. On the other hand, in Bhawanipur block of Araria also an innocent person died due to drowning in the river. Ankush, son of Dhanik Shah, a resident of Shahidganj Panchayat, had gone to the river bank to celebrate Chhath. During the evening Arghya, he went down to bathe in the river and drowned. People rushed him out but by then Ankush was dead.
