Budget 2025: 'Nothing for common people and middle class, govt has brought it keeping in mind upcoming Bihar elections'

NEW DELHI: Opposition leaders have slammed the cetre as the  Budget 2025 has nothing for common people and middle class and the government has brought it keeping in mind upcoming Bihar elections.

Trinamool Congress national general secretary and Lok Sabha member Abhishek Banerjee said the budget has nothing for West Bengal.

"There is nothing for common people in the budget. They have presented the budget keeping in mind upcoming Bihar elections. Last time, also all the announcements were made for Andhra Pradesh and Bihar. Andhra Pradesh elections are over and Bihar elections are about to be held, so the state is in focus," Banerjee told reporters in the Parliament complex.

"As far as West Bengal is concerned, it has got nothing in the last ten years and neither has it got anything today. This is unfortunate," he said. DMK Lok Sabha member Dayanidhi Maran called the budget a "big disappointment" for the country.

He said, "This is a big disappointment for the country, especially the middle class. The Finance Minister claims that she is giving tax exemption up to Rs 12 lakh, but in the very next line she said that there is a 10 per cent tax slab on income of Rs 8 to 10 lakh."

He said, "Since elections are coming in Bihar, many announcements are being made for Bihar, fooling the people of Bihar."
