CM Yogi releases 'Gau-Lok Ki Ore' book on the eve of 'Gopashtami'


 Lucknow, 21 November (HS) :    Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed satisfaction over the measures taken by his government to protect and conserve the cows.


  He said that his government not only succeeded in preventing cow-slaughter in the state but effectively checked inter-state and smuggling of cows. "The cows were even being sent to other countries before I took over as the CM of UP,'' he pointed out adding "it was a challenge before me to protect the holy animal which I did to my full ability.''


 The CM said that the steps taken in order to protect stray cows borne fruits and now about 5.24 lakh cattle are kept in government-run cow shelters while more than 8 lakh such cattle are housed in 'Kanha Upvan', the cow shelters being run by local bodies in the state.


Speaking at the book release function at his official residence on Saturday, a day before the 'Gopashtami', he underlined the religious and mythological importance of cows. He said that the 'Gopashtami' has been a tradition followed for thousands of years.



 CM Yogi Adityanath released the book 'Gau-Lok Ki Ore' authored by Ms Shivani Sharma and compiled by Saurabh Mishra, the prachar pramukh of Vidya Bharti, Eastern Uttar Pradesh in the function.


He said that the book is divided into five parts and its narrative is in very simple language to be comprehended easily. The Cm gifted 'Anga Vastra' and masks to them while the author of the book presented an idol of Gau Mata to the CM.


Hemchandra , the organising secretary of Vidya Bharti, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Rajnish Pathak, Coordinator of Awadh Prant along with others were present in the function.
