Cocaine worth 13 crore hidden in kurtas buttons, woman held at Delhi airport

 (Fast Mail News) - A team of Customs Department at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) has recovered cocaine worth more than Rs 13 crore, unearthing a big haul of drug smuggling. This cocaine was brought from Addis Ababa by a Liberian female passenger in the luggage.

According to a senior official of the customs department, cocaine worth Rs 13 crore was kept hidden in the buttons of the kurtas. In this case, the Custom Department team has arrested the accused woman passenger and a case has been registered against her under several serious sections.

 

 

 According to the official, the female air passenger, who arrived at IGIA's Terminal-3 on flight number ET-686 from Addis Ababa, was stopped by the customs team for investigation and questioning on the basis of suspicion when she crossed the Green Channel and headed towards the exit gate.

There were 11 kurtas in which unusually large buttons were stitched. On the basis of suspicion, the Custom Department team saw a button cut and found a white colored substance hidden inside it. After which all the buttons of all the kurtas were cut and opened.

A total of 947 grams of cocaine was recovered out of 272 buttons fitted in 11 kurtas that came out of the woman's bag. The  value of cocaine recovered in the international market is being told to be Rs 13 crore 26 lakh.
