Congress workers demand release of Ajay Lallu
Fatehpur, June 13 (HS) Congress party staged a sit-in protest near Mahatma Gandhi's statue at Gandhi Maidan at Collectorate, demanding the release of its state president Ajay Kumar Lallu. The protest was organised jointly by the district and city Congress Committees.
District president Akhilesh Pandey said that Seva Satyagraha had been going on for the last one week against Lallu where about 25,00,000 needy people were served food in the last 7 days. Besides, ration was distributed to about 11000 people.
He said this satyagraha was being done in the form of service. The Congress followed the path of truth, non-violence, peace and fraternity shown by Mahatma Gandhi and was constantly working to spread his ideals to the people, but the BJP was destroying Gandhi's ideals. The BJP was trying to suppress the opposition in a dictatorial and undemocratic manner.
Congress workers demanded immediate release of their state president. City president Mohsin Khan, Sudhakar Awasthi, Babar Khan, Sivakant Tiwari, Pankaj Gautam, Udit Awasthi, Misboul Haq, Shekhar Shukla and other Congressmen were present at the protest.
