COVID-19 cases in Angul touches 15

 (Fast Mail News) -  Angul district reported 15 positive cases of COVID-19 ; the biggest and first time single day jump for the district so far.The cause behind the sudden spike of COVID-19 cases is said to be the  return of migrants to the district after the Centre allowed inter-state movement.

Fifteen persons tested positive for novel coronavirus in Angul district on Sunday – including the one from Maharastra and a local of Angul muncipality area.

Angul district which was in green zone saw 15 people positive of coronavirus, 11 out of them are having Surat links,one from Maharasthra and the other from Angul municipality area found  COVID-19 positive.

The district collector Manoj Kumar Mohanty told TOI,” 11 have Surat links while one is a Maharashtra returnee;the other one is a  resident of Angul municipality area. All are being shifted from quarantine centres to COVID Hospital now for treatment”.


 “How ever,there should not be any panicky as all the positives were from quarantine centres.We already have started contact tracing work of municipality man.After getting  complete information about his contacts; we will put them all in quarantine’.

The person from municipality area who found positive had been to Bhubaneswar  and  had  returned back to Angul.We are examining all his detail travel history”, the collector maintained.

Earlier, the district had no positives. Meanwhile,around 600 to 650 people are staying in different quarantine centres in the district.

Following the sudden spike in corona positive cases;with the return of migrants it has become a headache for the district administration  to cope with the situation.

The district police superintendent Jagnohan Meena told TOI,”We have kept a watch on the situation in the district.We have taken all safety measures and have instructed the police to be vigilant to be vigilant”.
