Covid-19 death toll in Bengal touches 485 with 10 more casualties in one day

 Kolkata, June 15 (HS) With 10 more Covid-19 patients dying during the last 24 hours, the total number of Corona virus deaths in West Bengal went up to to 485 tonight, one of the highest in the country.

 

During the same period another 407 people also tested positive to take the total number of those affected by Corona virus to 11,494 tonight from 11,087 yesterday.....

 

According to the latest Medical Bulletin issued by the state Health Department tonight, of the total 10 Covid deaths as many as 7 were from Kolkata alone, while others died in other parts of South and North Bengal.

 

Of the total number of  407 new Covid patients in one day, the maximum 198 were from Kolkata alone,followed by those from North and South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Midnapore, Hooghly, Nadia, Coochbehar, Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri districts. Like the last few days most of these people were migrant workers from the worst affected states of Maharashtra, Delhi,Gujarat,Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu,informed sources said.

 

 

 The total number of active Corona cases being treated in different government hospitals today reduced by 37 and now stood at  5515 . .

 

In all only 9509  sample tests were conducted in West Bengal in the last 24 hours to take their total number to 343,242 from 333,733  yesterday, the bulletin said

 

With the rate of recovery of patients in West Bengal jumping up to at 47.79 per cent against the national average of nearly 50 per cent, altogetehr 434 people were discharged and returned home from different hospitals since yesterday  As a result 5494 people were able to return home today after their recovery, the bulletin said,

 

Moreover so far 83,335 people have been released from government quarantine facilities and another  1,23,589 from over 9,000 home quarantine facilities, the bulletin said.
