Cuttack-Angul NH four-laning to be completed by April end
ANGUL: The four-laning of112km long Cuttack-Angul section of NH-55 would be completed by the end of April this year while 150 km long Angul-Sambalpur road of the NH has already been completed and opened for traffic.
This was stated by Union Minister For Road Transport and Highway Nitin Jairam Gadkari.Replying to the unstarred question raised by Dhenkanal MP in Lok Sabha Rudra Narayan Pani.
The minister said the Cuttack-Angul –Sambalpur section of NH-55 is being implemented in three packages.Package-1 includes Cuttack to Dhenkanal while Package-2 includes Dhenkanal to Angul while the package-3 includes Angul to Sambalpur.
The minister said the Package-1 and 2 are in progress with revised date of completion by the end of the March and April respectively. The minister admitted inordinate delay in the implementation of four laning project between Cuttack to Sambalpur.He said,the projects were awarded during the year 2017-18 having completion period of 2.5 years. How ever,he said the work has been delayed due to various reasons such as delay in land acquisition, forest clearance,COVID-19 and due to financial crisis of the contractor.
Gadkari said the monitoring of all project packages including financial aspects is being carried out by the ministry to expedite progress, ensure timely completion and to minimize public inconveniences. This process, he said involved regular review meetings at various levels with all stakeholders including the state government.
