Delhi LG orders to register FIR against Jal Board officials in 20 crore scam

NEW DELHI:There have been allegations of misappropriation of Rs 20 crore in Delhi Jal Board. The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinay Kumar Saxena has ordered the Chief Secretary to register an FIR.  And has directed to submit the report in this matter within 15 days. The LG has said that the officers involved in the misappropriation of money should be identified and their accountability should be fixed.

There has been no response from the Delhi government or the Delhi Jal Board (DGB) on this order given by the LG.Sources to LG said that this matter first came to the fore in 2019. At that time there were allegations that Rs 20 crore was collected from the consumers as water bills but this money was not deposited in the account of Delhi Jal Board.

According to the allegation, some bank employees are also involved in this scam. At the same time, along with ordering the FIR, LG Vinay Saxena has asked the officials to ensure the recovery of the amount at the earliest.

It is worth noting that before this, the Lieutenant Governor has also ordered an inquiry regarding the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and the Excise Policy. In fact, there is an allegation of alleged rigging in the purchase of 1,000 low-floor buses by the Delhi Transport Corporation. For which the LG had approved the proposal to send the complaint to the CBI.

In September itself, the LG had ordered a departmental inquiry into allegations of misappropriation of money in the payment of salaries to teachers in the appointment of guest teachers in schools run by the Arvind Kejriwal government.

The tussle between Kejriwal government and Delhi LG is not taking the name of ending. Till now LG has ordered investigation in many cases. In such a situation, now after the order to register an FIR in the Delhi Jal Board, it is believed that once again the tension between the two can increase.
