Delhi MCD Election Result 2022: Counting for 250 wards begins

 NEW DELHI: The results of the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections will be announced today. The counting of votes begins  from 8 am amid tight security. There are 250 wards in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

According to earlier exit polls, AAP is expected to get a bumper majority in the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections. Preparations for the counting of votes for the Municipal Corporation elections in Delhi have been completed and 42 centers have been set up for the counting of votes to be held on Wednesday.

The counting of votes will start at 8 am on Wednesday amid tight security.

In the elections held on December 4 in Delhi, 50.48 percent polling was recorded. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has 250 wards and 1,349 candidates are in the fray in this election. The municipal elections saw a triangular contest between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the BJP and the Congress.



 A senior official of the State Election Commission said, “We have completed preparations for the counting of votes to be held tomorrow. 42 counting centers have been set up. The counting of votes will be done amid tight security arrangements. The counting centers are located in areas including Shastri Park, Yamuna Vihar, Mayur Vihar, Nand Nagari, Dwarka, Okhla, Mangolpuri, Pitampura, Alipore and Model Town.

Police officials said tight security has been put in place at all the centers and 20 companies of Central Armed Police Forces and over 10,000 police personnel have been deployed at the centres.

Both the AAP and the BJP have expressed confidence that they will emerge victorious in the elections, while the Congress is trying to regain lost ground.
