Delhi-NCR schools closed, advised to work from home due to water logging triggered by heavy rain

 NEW DELHI:Due to continuous rain in Delhi and NCR, Delhi witnessed traffic jams amid water-logging conditions, in cities like Faridabad and Noida, directions have been issued to close schools till class 8. The Meteorological Department has also warned about heavy rains on Friday.

Apart from this, office-goers in Gurugram have been advised to work from home. Due to incessant rains in Gurugram, the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway witnessed a severe jam situation amid heavy water logging. In such a situation, the police had to request people on Twitter to leave their homes only when there is an urgent need. On the other hand, 11 people have died due to continuous rain in UP for several days.

An alert has been issued regarding heavy rains in NCR and districts of Uttar Pradesh like Noida, Aligarh, Kanpur, Sitapur, Lucknow, Bahraich. Let us inform that keeping in mind the safety of the children, this decision has been taken by the district administration.

Earlier, on the night of 21 September in Keitawa, UP, four siblings of the same family died when the wall of a house collapsed. The Aligarh administration has ordered the closure of schools for two days. In Uttarakhand, many highways were closed due to the cracking of mountains.



 Reports said,due to heavy rains in Anuppur of Shahdol division of Madhya Pradesh, a major accident was averted. Due to the lack of a bridge on the Son river, the children were going to school across the river by boat, the boat capsized in the middle. However, all the children survived.

The Disaster Management Authority in Haryana's Gurugram has advised all corporate offices and private institutions in the district to instruct their employees to work from home, in view of heavy rains on September 23. Doing this is necessary for carrying out repair work in place and for operation of traffic control and order.

Meaanwhile,the police is workinf hard to normalize the traffic situation and keep  the traffic smooth. More than a thousand police personnel were deployed across the city since the rains started on Thursday morning. According to the district administration, Gurugram recorded 54 mm of rain on Thursday.
