Dhenkanal MP resorts blockade on NHs across Angul and Dhenkanal districts

 By Jagadananda Pradhan

DHENKANAL:Hundreds of supporters of Dhenkanal MP Mahesh Sahoo resorted to road blockade at atleast ten places on national Highways  passing through undivided Dhenkanal district. The one hour blockade was imposed from 8am to 9am today at National Highways of  Dhenkanal,Angul,Talcher,Kamakhyanagar,Hindol and other places. The blockage was imposed at national highways 53,55,149 and 200.

Sahoo himself put up a road blockade at Gudiakateni on NH-55 in Dhenkanal district. He along with the supporters blocked the traffic .Hundreds of vehicles were seen stranded on both sides of the road for more than one hour. The blockade was also staged by supporters at Angul,Talcher,Kamakhyanagar and other places where traffic was stopped for more than one hour there.

The blockade was resorted protesting against the callous attitude of the central government and National Highway Authority of India(NHAI) for bad road conditions on these parts of the NH.MP Mahesh Sahoo said that though the two districts are giving thousands of crores of rupees to the central government, the negligence of the central government is palpable.

He said the roads of the national highways passing through these two districts are in a very bad condition and need renovation and repairs.

”Despite, I raise the issue in parliament and discuss the matter with the NHAI authorities along with the union  minister concerned, no step has been taken to upgrade the road conditions of the NHs passing through Angul and Dhenkanal districts. It is very outrageous that the NH-55 construction from Manguli to Angul couldn’t be completed even after five years causing accidents and inconveniences to the people. I demand immediate renovation of these highways crossing Angul and Dhenkanal district immediately”.

The Dhenkanal MP earlier had imposed an economic blockade against Nalco, and NTPC Kaniha from giving justice to the land affected people.
