Dhenkanal: Nine held in Odisha Gramya Bank dacoity case

Dhenkanal(FASTMAIL):- Police have arrested 9 persons involved in the Rasol Gramya bank dacoity case and cracked the four days old bank dacoity case. Police seized 11.65lakh of rupees and 5.3kg stolen gold jewelry from the arrested persons.Two more persons are yet to be arrested in this case,police said. 

Police have ignored giving the names of the accused persons involved in this dacoit incident.How ever,reports said,the arrested accused belong to Angul and Dhenkanal districts. Police seized 11.65lakh of rupees and 5.3kg stolen gold jewelry from the arrested persons. 

In a press meet Dhenkanal SP L Divya said that one weapon has been recovered from them and,a cash of 11.65lakh of rupees and 5.3kg stolen gold jewelry were recovered.

 "A total of 11 persons were involved in the case while six persons were directly involved in the dacoit in Odisha Gramya bank on January 12.Five persons cooperated with the main accused  including helping them to dispose of the stolen ornaments',SP said.


  Police said, further investigations are on about the involvement of a bank employee and of a relative of a police official in this case.

 Reports said,police made a breakthrough after it intercepted a car at Gobindpur NH 55 while it was going along with the dacoits to Cuttack to dispose of the jewelry on that day. Police are looking for remaining accused in this case and conducting raids at different places.Dhenkanal SP L Divya had been monitoring the case since it took place since January 12.

 Rasol IIC Bijay Haiburu said,”We were tracking the mobile phones of the suspected persons and then were able to catch the car on NH 55 which was carrying the suspects to Cuttack with the golden ornaments. Those who are arrested belong to Dhenkanal and Angul district. While six were involved in direct operation five were charged with conspiracy. We are in search of the remaining two accused who are still at large and hope we will catch them soon’.
