Dhenkanal tusker electrocuted to death in Bhuban range of Dhenkanal

 DHENKANAL:There is no end of elephant killing in Dhenkanal district with one more tusker killed last night under Bhuban range.

A 25-year-old was electrocuted death by alleged poachers in Dhenkanal district. According to sources, the tusker came in came into contact with live wire laid on the ground by poachers to hunt wild animals.

Forest official said the tusker came out of the forest to village paddy field in quest of food.This incident occured near village Rankia under Bhuban forest range of Dhenkanal forest division.



 Getting information,the forest department officials rushed to the spot in the morning and  a post mortem was conducted by the doctors. A case has been registered against the person in that village who have absconded.

Dhenkanal ACF Subrat Patra said there were two tuskers wandering in the Rankia village area for some days. The forest squad was able to chase one of these two into forest last night. But couldn’t trace this one. The untraced tusker had sneaked into village paddy field where he came in contact with the live wire on the ground and died instantly.

He said the villagers of Rankia spotted the dead elephant in the morning and informed forest department officials who rushed to the spot. This iss a clear cut case of hunting by poachers laying live wire on the ground.He said as per the preliminary investigations, a case has been registered against one of the villager in this connection. Post mortem of the tusker has been conducted by vertinery doctors, he said.
