DRDO conducts two tests of very short range missile off Odisha coast

New Delhi, Sep 27, (Fast Mail News):-- The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on Tuesday conducted two successful tests of the Very Short Range Air Defense System (VSHORADS) missile from a ground-based portable launcher at the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha. It is a Man Portable Air Defense System, developed by DRDO's Research Center Imarat. It has been indigenously designed and developed in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories and Indian industry partners.

The VSHORADS missile incorporates several innovative technologies including Miniature Reaction Control System and Integrated Avionics, which have proved successful during trials today. Designed to neutralize low-altitude air threats over short ranges, the missile is powered by a dual thrust solid motor. The design of the missile including its launcher has been highly optimized. Both the flight tests have achieved 100% of the mission objectives.

Appreciating the efforts of DRDO and industry partners, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that this new missile equipped with modern technologies will give more technological boost to the armed forces. Dr. Satheesh Reddy, Secretary and Chairman, DRDO has congratulated the entire team for this tremendous success.
