ED Arrests Sameer Mahendru Owner Of Indospirit In Delhi Excise Policy Case

 NEW DELHI:The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Sameer Mahendru, MD of Indospirit and accused in the Delhi Excise Policy case, from Delhi on Wednesday morning. According to sources, the ED has arrested Sameer Mahendru, managing director of Indospirit Group, in connection with the money laundering probe launched in the Delhi government's excise policy case. The officials confirmed this.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in its FIR, has alleged that Sameer Mahendru was also actively involved in irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the excise policy. The CBI FIR also states that a person named Arjun Pandey had collected an amount of about Rs 2 to 4 crore from Mahendru on behalf of Vijay Nair.

Earlier on Tuesday, former CEO of event management company Only Much Louder, Vijay Nair was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with irregularities in the Delhi Excise Policy case. The CBI FIR on the role of Nair associated with the Aam Aadmi Party had said that sources have revealed that Vijay Nair, former Pernod Ricard employee Manoj Rai, Brindco Spirits owner Amandeep Dhal and Indospirits owner Sameer Mahendru in the making of the excise policy and actively involved in irregularities in implementation.


 According to sources, Indospirit MD Sameer Mahendru had transferred an amount of one crore to the account of Radha Industries. Radha Industries is being managed by Dinesh Arora. The sources further revealed that Arun Ramachandra Pillai used to collect money wrongly for onward transmission from Sameer Mahendru to the accused officers through Vijay Nair.

Searches were conducted at 35 places across the country: On 7 September 2022, the ED had conducted searches at 35 places across the country in connection with the investigation in this case. During this, the residence of Sameer Mahendru at Jor Bagh was also searched. The ED case is based on the CBI FIR registered in August. The CBI had registered an FIR against Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, three officials of the Excise Department and several vendors and distributors among the 15 accused.
