EOW arrests Ardhendu Das, editor of 'Bada Khabar'

 BHUBANESWAR (Fast Mail News) -The Economic Offences Wing(EOW) of the Odisha crime Branch has arrested Ardhendu Das, editor of the news channel 'Bada Khabar'.

Congress Jatani MLA Sur Rautaray and BJP leader Babu Singh have strongly condemned the arrest of Ardhendu Das.

EOW SP Dillip Kumar Tripathi said that Ardhendu Das, editor of the Bada Khabara, was picked up by the EOW from Odgaon and interrogated,yesterday.The EOW raided several places to apprehend Ardhendu Das.

It is learnt that The EOW and the Commissionerate of Police have four cases against Ardhendu Das.

A five-member team led by the investigating DSP raided Mr. Das's house in Jagmara around 4 a.m. yesterday in connection with the EOW embezzlement case against Ardhendu Das. But the EOW returned empty-handed as Ardhendu was absent from the house during the raid.

EOW SP Dillip Kumar Tripathi said that on the 23rd, the a complaint was made by Delhi-based Solution Broadcaster Proprietor Gagandeep Singh Chawla that Ardhendu had purchased  electrical equipment worth 1crore47lakhs from him in Octorber 21, 2020, claiming that he was trading Rs 8 crore annually. He was paid only Rs 10 lakh, but he did not pay Rs 92 lakh.



Ardhendu should have paid him the rest amount within six months.But even after 20 months,he could not pay the rest amount forcing Singh to approach the Crime Branch here, sources said.

On the otherhand,Nishit Agrawal, a resident of Cuttack, has lodged another complaint with Das at Purighat police station. The businessman alleged that Mr. Das bought furniture and other items worth Rs 11 lakh from him. He later paid Rs 4.4 lakh.He has not paid the rest of the amount,it is alleged.

Another case has been registered against him in Bhubaneswar's Bargarh police station. One Shri , Biswajit Sahu, has  filed a complaint with the police alleging that he had not paid his house rent of Rs 5.85 lakhs. Ardhendu was operating the channel office since January.

It is learnt tht Ardhendu had moved to Supreme Court against the Odisha High Court order relating to ongoing construction and excavation works around the Jagannath Temple in Puri.The Supreme Court had quashed his petition.

Ardhendu was unavailable for comment.When available we will put his comment here.
