Gujarat AAP leader raised questions alcohol prohibition, says, even doctors and senior officers consume it

AHMEDABAD:Assembly elections are going to be held in Gujarat in the next few months. The ruling BJP and Aam Aadmi Party are mainly in the fray in this election. Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal is constantly touring to the state and is engaged in public meetings, rallies and public relations to capture power. While the Aam Aadmi Party is accusing the BJP government of cheating the public and being careless on the issue of inflation, unemployment and security, on the other hand, the BJP is calling Kejriwal and his party a corrupt one.

Liquor ban is in force in Gujarat. Meanwhile, an Aam Aadmi Party candidate on Wednesday courted controversy by claiming that drinking is not a bad thing and that people all over the world consume alcohol while it is banned only in Gujarat.

He said, even  doctors, IAS and IPS officers take alcohol. However, they advise people to avoid its addiction. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party demanded an apology from AAP leader Jagmal Vala for "maligning" Gujarat and promoting alcohol consumption.

Jagmal, who was declared the Aam Aadmi Party's candidate from Somnath assembly seat in Gujarat's Gir Somnath district, made this statement while addressing a public meeting.

Assembly elections in the state are proposed later this year. Jagmal said, "There are 196 countries in the world, in which 800 crore people live. Drinking alcohol is free in all of these 196 countries. India alone has a population of 130-140 crores, and the whole country has the freedom to consume alcohol. This proves that wine is not bad. Big doctors, IAS and IPS officers consume alcohol,he said.

The special thing is that on one hand the candidates of Aam Aadmi Party are advocating for consuming alcohol and on the other hand they are also telling its excessive consumption as harmful for health.
