Gulf hails historic Saudi win against Argentina

Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Nov 23:-- In the FIFA Football World Cup '22 in Qatar on Tuesday, Saudi Arabia's team, which caused the biggest upset in the history of the tournament, has been widely covered in the world media and espically the Gulf region.

Saudi Arabia shocked the world by defeating two-time world champions Argentina 2-1. A public holiday has been declared in the kingdom to celebrate the win.

Every small and big newspaper published from here has done extensive coverage and described it as a moment to be recorded in history. The Khaleej Times, published from Dubai, wrote: When Argentina entered the field on Tuesday, it had the confidence of not losing a single match for 36 consecutive months. Argentina would not have had any idea that Saudi Arabia, which has not won a single World Cup match in the last 28 years, would stop its victory. Seven-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi could not help Argentina in front of a jubilant Saudi crowd. The celebration will go on for a long time for the fans of Saudi Arabia.

Gulf's famous channel Aljazeera said on Tuesday's match that Tuesday was a very happy day for the Arab world. The National, a newspaper published in Abu Dhabi, wrote – Jeddah's shops, cafes and offices echoed the Saudi national anthem on Tuesday. With Saudi Arabia's thumping victory over Argentina, the whole country is in a state of celebration.

Arab News, a newspaper published in Riyadh, has named this victory a 'Heroic victory'. The newspaper wrote that Saudi Arabia surprised the world by defeating Argentina 2-1 at the Lusail Stadium.
