Half of the Odisha Covered under Unique Health Yojana : Naveen

ANGUL/DHENKANAL(Fast Mail News) - Both the Angul and Dhenkanal districts today were covered under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana with 10 lakh people of each district will come under the scheme. The chief minister Naveen Patnaik officially launched the Swasthya Kalyan Yojana with distributing smart health cards at the functions held in Angul and Dhenkanal.

 The Chief minister  also laid the foundation stone of various projects worth of about 1176 crore in Angul district and 880 crores worth projects in Dhenkanal district.

 Around 10 lakh people from each in these two districts will benefit from this Swasthya kalyan Yoyana. So far 15 districts have been covered under this Yoyana in the state where its implementation started from September 1 last. Chief Minister accompanied by 5T secretary VK Pandian arrived here at the local stadium at 11.30 am. He was received by DIG Sarthak Sadangi,SP Jagmohan Meena collector Sidhartha Shankar swain.

 Speaking on the occasion in a recorded message Patnaik said Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yoyana is unique in the entire country and a milestone in the realm of the health services for the people.

  He paid rich tributes to late Naba Krishna Choudhury and Malati Choudhury and also offered tributes to the personalities of Talcher Praja Mandal movement. He laid the foundation of various projects worth 1176 crores of rupees today out of which providing drinking water attained priorities. He held the promotion of the millet contribution of the district by which 3,000 farmers will be benefited.

 Elaborating about the necessity of having health smart cards, he said around3.5 crore people of 73 lakh families of the states have been covered under the scheme.



 The chief minister said,“Our government gives prime concern of the people and their health.We see people sell land and others to meet medical expenditure. We have launched this health card now and people those suffering from diseases  will get now treatment in big hospitals inside Odisha as well as outside states”.

 The deputy speaker Rajanikanta Singh, Minister Ashok Panda also spoke on the occasion.

 In Dhenkanal,the chief minister also attended a public meeting on the occasion. He paid rich tributes to Sahid Baji Rout and Sarangdhar Dash before commencing his speech. He also announced the foundation stone of various projects including those in the tourism sector for Dhenkanal district. He also spoke almost the same what is said in the Angul meeting.

 The minister Samir Dash,Prafulla Mallick and local MP Mahesh Sahoo,MLA Sudhir Samal and Nrusingha Sahoo,Simaani Nayak also spoke on the occasion.

 The chief minister’s one day programme to these two districts was vehemently opposed by the opposition BJP and congress. There was a clash between BJD and BJP supporters at Ganesh Bazaar chhak inviting the intervention of the police.BJP workers reportedly took out a march with black flags opposing the chief minister’s visit which confronted the BJD workers that led to minor clash.

 In another incident former Rudra Narayan Pani,Anjali Behera and BJP leader Bibhuti Bhusan Pradhan while picketing in the town were picked up by police. Pani said they were taken by a police jeep to Kapilash jungle and adjacent area in the police van which described is unwanted behaviour of police towards former MP and former minister.

 The North Central Range DIG Sarthak Sarangi said the CM visit ended peacefully with the detention of around 20 to 30 people in both the districts.
