Health, Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya reviews status of organ donations, transplant in country
New Delhi, May 3:-- Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya today reviewed the status of organ donations and transplant in the country. Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr. Bharti Pravin Pawar and senior officers of the ministry were present during the review meeting.
The Health Ministry said, organ transplants have substantially increased from less than five thousand in 2013 to more than 15 thousand in 2022. It said, more organs per deceased donor are now being utilized with better coordination through the network of Organ and Tissues Transplant Organizations.
The Ministry said, as per the guidance of the Union Health Minister, Ministry is also imbibing learnings from international best practices for further policy reforms towards augmentation of organ donation and transplantation in the country.
