Health Secretary to chair States review meeting on Omicron virus this morning

 NEW DELHI:Health Secretary will chair a States review meeting on Omicron virus today The meeting assumes significance in the wake of concerns over  new Coronavirus strain cases in countries like South Africa, Botswana, Continental Europe and Netherlands

 

  Israel, Japan, and Morocco have banned all foreign travelers over the new variant.  United States, Canada, the European Union, and the United Kingdom have announced bans on travellers from southern Africa.

 The WHO said it is not yet clear whether Omicron is more transmissible or causes more severe infection than other variants. Meanwhile, U.S. Chief Medical Advisor Anthony Fauci said it will take approximately two weeks for White House to gain more definitive information on the variant.
