High Court allows Uddhav Thackeray group to hold Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park in Mumbai

MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court has allowed the Uddhav Thackeray faction to hold a Dahsehra rally at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. The court, while giving its verdict on Friday, said that the Maharashtra government should allow the Uddhav Thackeray faction to hold a rally in Shivaji Park from October 2 to 6. This decision of the court is being considered as a big setback for the Eknath Shinde faction of Shiv Sena. The court has dismissed the plea of ??Eknath Shinde to hold a Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park during the hearing of the case.

Before the High Court's decision, the BMC's counsel had referred to a 2004 order of the Supreme Court, which states that courts should not interfere in law and order matters and should be controlled by the administration. While pronouncing the verdict, the court said the BMC sought a police report on the same day the Thackeray faction moved the high court. The court also said that the BMC's decision not to allow the two factions to hold a Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park was not justified in any way.

During the hearing on Friday, Advocate SP Chinoy in Bombay High Court on behalf of Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) said, "Shiv Sena has been organizing Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park since 1966. Dussehra Mela was not organized only during Corona period. Now all the festivals are being celebrated after Covid. In such a situation, permission should be given to organize Dussehra Mela on behalf of Shiv Sena in 2022.

At the same time, during the debate, Shinde faction said that Eknath Shinde is the main leader of Shiv Sena. The claim of the Thackeray faction is based on misleading and false facts. At the same time, the Thackeray faction has demanded permission to hold the traditional rally in Shivaji Park itself. Milind Salve, counsel for Shinde faction said, "Shivajipark is a playground and comes in the silent zone. There is a GR of the year 2016, which states that Shivaji Park is allowed for Dussehra fair, but in the same GR it is also It has been said that if there is any law and order problem then no event can be organized there."
