‘I am enjoying my batting and not carrying any baggage’ – Suryakumar Yadav

Wellington, Nov 23, (Fast Mail News):-- The third T20I between India and New Zealand ended in a tie after rain had the final say in Napier today (November 22). New Zealand were bowled out for 160 in 19.4 overs, with Super King Devon Conway top-scoring with a 49-ball 59.

When rain came down, the Indian scorecard read 75/4 in nine overs, par with the required DLS total. Skipper Hardik Pandya remained unbeaten for the Men in Blue, scoring a quickfire 18-ball 30*. After the match, Hardik said that India would have liked to play the full quota of overs.

“Would have liked to win the game by playing the full overs, but it is what it is. At some point, I felt attack is the best (form of) defence on this wicket. We know the kind of bowling attacks they have, it was very important to get those 10-15 runs extra even though we lost a couple of wickets. A game like this could have given us an opportunity to test some of the players, but having said that, weather is something we cannot control,” said Hardik in the post-match presentation.

Suryakumar Yadav won the Player of the Series award for amassing 124 runs in two innings at a strike rate of 203.27. The 32-year-old stated that he is enjoying his batting and expressing himself out in the middle.

“Really happy with the way things have gone till now, would have loved a full game here but as Siraj said the weather is not in our hands. The pressure is always there and at the same time I'm enjoying my batting, just going there and expressing myself. Not carrying any baggage out there. The intent and approach will remain the same. We can just go out and express ourselves, would have loved a full game, but that's fine,” said Suryakumar.
