IFFI India jury head calls 'The Kashmir Files' 'vulgar propaganda'

PANAJI:The jury of the 53rd International Film Festival in Goa has condemned the controversial film "The Kashmir Files". The film revolves around the killing and exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir Valley in 1990. Calling it "propaganda" and "vulgar", Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid, head of the IFFI jury, said all jury members were "disturbed and shocked" by the film's screening at the festival.

The head of the jury of the International Film Festival in Goa criticized filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri's controversial film 'Kashmir Files', saying he was surprised to see the film winning the National Award. Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi are in lead roles in the film directed by Vivek Agnihotri. The film has been praised by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and was made tax-free in most BJP-ruled states.

The film was a hit at the box office and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah also praised the film. However, many people said that the events have been shown one-sided.

Vivek Agnihotri later alleged an "international political campaign" against him and his film by the foreign media. He claimed that this was the reason why his press conference in May was cancelled by the Foreign Correspondents' Club and the Press Club of India.
