Uttarkashi: From time immemorial, Gangotri and Yamunotri, the abodes of sages and saints , have been experiencing bone-chilling cold. The whole area is frozen. At this time the temperature here has gone below zero. The snow is constantly falling.
In such severe cold, 28 sadhus-sannyasis are reportedly in meditation. Their body have only nappies in the name of clothes.

It is believed that these saints of Hanuman temple of Yamunotri Dham have been practicing Bajrangbali and mother Yamuna for years. They reside in Yamunotri Dham for 12 months.
Ranger Pratap Singh and Satyendra Semwal of Gangotri National Park in Gangotri Dham said that 28 sadhus are engaged in sadhana in Gangotri. Two of these monks are in Tapovan. These people are doing sadhana in snow caves.
