INDIA bloc's spectacular victory is a befitting reply to BJP's divisive politics ,says KC Venugopal

NEW DELHI: Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal described the spectacular performance of the 'INDIA block in the assembly by-elections held in seven states as a victory of democracy and defeat of BJP's policies. He said the by-poll results are yet another tight slap on the BJP’s face.

He said that out of 13 seats in Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Bihar, Punjab and Tamil Nadu, the INDIA block won 10 seats. The public has rejected the BJP's policies and divisive politics against the common people and the youth.

The Congress General Secretary said that in Himachal Pradesh, the Congress party has further strengthened its position by winning two of the three seats of Dehra and Nalagarh, taking its tally to 40 seats in the Assembly. This victory is a testimony to the unwavering faith of the people of Himachal Pradesh. They have rejected the BJP's politics of power-change and defection.

He alleged that despite the BJP's efforts to weaken democracy, truth and the will of the people have emerged victorious.

“Today's result reflects the people's strong rejection of the BJP's support to capitalists and dictatorial politics. The BJP misused agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to intimidate our leaders. However, the people completely rejected this dangerous politics”,he said.

K.C. Venugopal said that similarly in Uttarakhand, the Congress has emerged victorious in both Badrinath and Mangalore seats. This significant victory in Ayodhya and now Badrinath sends a clear message that the people do not support the misuse of religion for political gains. Today's results are also a victory of democracy and constitutional values. The public has prioritised welfare and inclusiveness over divisive tactics and power-grabbing politics.

He further said that the Congress Party reiterates its commitment to uphold its public interest agenda and democratic values. We are grateful for the trust the people have shown in us, and pledge to continue serving with renewed vigour during the remainder of our term and in all future elections. This victory would not have been possible without the hard work of the Pradesh Congress Committee leaders and candidates, besides the guidance of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, CPP Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.
