India tests nuclear-capable ballistic missile nuclear submarine

NEW DELHI:Wednesday was a historic day for the Indian Navy, also because the Indian Navy tested a 3,500-km ballistic missile from the recently inducted submarine INS Arighat.

The successful test of the K-4 missile proves India's second-strike capability.

According to sources, the Navy will now test many more missile systems in the future.

Indian Navy has INS Arihant and Arighat, two nuclear submarines in the arsenal of the Indian Navy, which have the capability to fire ballistic missiles.

Arighat was inducted in August at the Ship Building Center in Visakhapatnam. This is the third such submarine launched and is expected to be inducted next year,said the authorities.
