IPL 2023 : Mumbai Indians qualify for playoffs; Gujarat finish as table toppers
New Delhi, May 22, (Fast Mail News):-- Mumbai Indians defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets to book a spot in the playoffs, while Gujarat Titans beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets in the last league game of IPL 2023 to finish as table toppers in this season.
Cameron Green’s unbeaten 47-ball 100 helped Mumbai Indians beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets in the 69th match of IPL 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on May 21.
Chasing a target of 201, Mumbai lost the early wicket of Ishan Kishan (14) with the scoreboard reading 20/1. Rohit Sharma was joined by Cameron Green and the duo put on a match-winning 128-run stand for the second wicket. Rohit scored a 37-ball 56, while Green’s knock included eight fours and as many sixes.
In the end, it was Suryakumar Yadav (25*) and Green’s 53-run stand that helped Mumbai reach the target with two overs to spare.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mayank Dagar took a wicket each.
Earlier, put into bat, Hyderabad posted 200/5, with Mayank Agarwal top scoring with a 46-ball 83 (4’s-8, 6’s-4). Vivrant Sharma contributed a valuable 47-ball 69.
Akash Madhwal picked up four wickets, while Chris Jordan took one.
Shubman Gill’s magnificent century helped Gujarat Titans beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets in the 70th game of IPL 2023 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
Put into bat, Bangalore lost wickets at regular intervals and posted 197/5 in 20 overs. It was Virat Kohli who stood tall and scored a superb 61-ball 101*, striking 13 fours and a six, helping his team reach a score closer to the 200-mark.
Noor Ahmed took two wickets, while Mohammed Shami, Yash Dayal, and Rashid Khan bagged a piece each.
In reply, after losing the early wicket of Wriddhiman Saha (12), Gill and Vijay Shankar took on the Bangalore bowlers as they put on a blistering 123-run stand off 71 balls, taking the team’s score closer to the 150-run mark. Vijay scored a 35-ball 53, while Gill was unbeaten at 104 off 52 balls (4’s-5, 6’s-8). In the end, it was Gill who took the responsibility and finished the game in style with a six.
Mohammed Siraj took two wickets.
Shubman Gill was adjudged the Player of the Match for his century.
