It is our collective and moral responsibility to build a better world: Rajnath

NEW DELHI:Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said in the Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue that it is our collective and moral responsibility to build a better world. A world must be built that is safe and just for all. The philosophers of India have always understood the human community by rising above political boundaries. He said that the global community is moving in this direction through various platforms and agencies. The United Nations Security Council is at the forefront of this,he said.

On the last day of 'Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue' at Manekshaw Centre, Delhi, Defence Minister strongly believes that if security becomes a collective enterprise, we can look at building a global order that is secure and just for all . We propose an ASEAN-India Initiative for Women in UN Peacekeeping Operations that will contribute towards effective conflict resolution and sustainable peace through a more humane approach. We have also proposed an ASEAN-India Initiative on Marine Plastic Pollution Response towards improving marine ecosystems.

The minister said that it has always been our endeavor to work with partners who have constructive relationships in this area. We have launched the 'Indo-Pacific Ocean Initiative' at the East Asia Summit held in Bangkok. In the present times when humanity is facing problems like climate change, covid pandemic, we all should work together to overcome these challenges without getting distracted by the destructive effect of wars and conflicts. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's message that 'now is not the time for war', he said it allows us to share the message of humanity across the Indo-Pacific region.

He said that the Indo-Pacific region is important not only for the economic development of the region but also of the wider global community. The age-old sea lanes in the region helped in the promotion of criss-crossing trade. Sea corridors have served to bring cultures and ideas together. This is the water that brought the message of peace, knowledge, hope and welfare centuries ago, we should try to make it one. We need to rise above parochialism and think that a strong and prosperous India will not be built at the cost of others, rather India is here to help other countries realize their full potential. Rajnath Singh said that it remains important for the economic development of not only the regional but also the wider global community.
