J&K: Three militants killed in Doda during encounter.

 Jammu, June 29 : Hijbul Mujahideen commander Masood Ahmad Bhat and two suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba militants were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The operation was jointly launched by the Army, the Anantnag Police and CRPF.


So far, 35 terrorists have been killed in the month of June. Security forces have also managed to keep mountainous Doda district militancy free. According to reports, the encounter took place at Khull Chohar area of Doda district. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation after receiving input about the presence of suspected militants. Three terrorists were neutralized including two LeT commanders and one rape accused Hizbul Commander of Doda.



 "Masood was last surviving terrorist of Doda", the J&K police said in a tweet. "He was involved in a rape case in Doda and was absconding ever since. He later joined Hizbul Mujahideen and shifted his area of operation to Kashmir." 


Doda, once a hot belt for militants, touches its borders with South Kashmir’s Anantnag, has been a key area of focus for security forces. In a Tweet, Kashmir Zone police stated that with the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Masood in an encounter in South Kashmir, the entire Doda district has become militancy-free. According to the reports security forces have achieved a major success this year by killing over 100 terrorists including several commanders.
