Man held for desecrating idols in Meerut

 Meerut, 23 Nov:-- On Wednesday morning, idols at an ancient temple here were found desecrated, causing a commotion among the locals.

 

According to the police, a drunk person vandalised the idols and was arrested. The desecration occurred at the Shani Dev temple in Ajanta Colony, according to Superintendent of Police (City) Piyush Singh. He further said that an effort was made to break open the donation box.

 

 

 According to locals, when priest Jagdish arrived to the temple around 6 a.m., he first noticed the broken statues of Sai Baba, Ganesh, Shani Dev, and other deities. Meanwhile, representatives of Hindu organisations and a huge number of students gathered at the temple to demand that the perpetrators be held accountable.
