Meghalaya : Non-bailable warrant issued against BJP leader for running 'brothel' in farmhouse

 MEGHALAYA: Police on Monday issued a non-bailable warrant for the arrest of BJP state unit vice-president Bernard N Marak for running a brothel at his farmhouse in Tura, Meghalaya. In raids on Saturday, six minors were rescued from Rimpu Bagan, a farmhouse in Marak, and 73 people were arrested, police said. Marak is absconding since then. West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Vivekanand Singh said, "Non-bailable warrant has been issued against Bernard N Marak alias Rimpu. This is a 'standing warrant' issued by the Chief Judicial Magistrate's court at Tura.

 Marak told that his life is in danger

Police said Marak has been asked to cooperate with the investigation but he is running away. Efforts are on to nab them. At the same time, the militant-turned-politician, Marak, alleged that he was in favor of Chief Minister Konrad K. Sangma is becoming a target of political vendetta and he is in danger of life. Refuting these allegations, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that his government allows the police to act according to their discretion.



Party came to the rescue of Bernard N. Marac

Defending Bernard N Marak, BJP claims that he has been implicated. These charges against him should be dropped. However, the opposition Congress has demanded an independent inquiry into the matter. State BJP president Ernest Mowry said in a statement that Marak's life was in danger. Mawri said, “BJP condemns the raid in Edenbari. Bernard Marack was implicated and defamed. It seems that he has been the victim of political vendetta. I request the government to protect Marak and withdraw the politically motivated charges against him.
