Neighboring districts of Chennai regulating vehicle entry
Chennai, June 13: Police of the neighbouring districts of Chennai, namely Chengelpet, Kancheepuram and Thiruvallur intensified checking of vehicles Saturday. People arriving into these districts were being checked and only those with valid e-pass were being given entry while others were being sent back.
Checking will go on for the next few days till the Covid-19 cases start decreasing. Police of Kancheepuram, sent back more than 6,000 vehicles .
As the rumours of another complete lockdown was rife in Tamil Nadu, many attempted reaching Kancheepuram in the last few days.
People of Kancheepuram who commute to Chennai for work were told to contact the collectorate when many of them said that it was not possible for them to procure e-pass.
Considerable amount of workforce in various establishments in Chennai resides in localities that come under the administrative control of the neighbouring districts of Chengelpet, Kancheepuram and Thiruvallur.
People employed in the essential services sectors were, however, being allowed entry.
