North Korea tests eight short-range ballistic missiles
Seoul, 6 June (FMNews) -. North Korea on Sunday tested eight short-range ballistic missiles at sea from multiple locations. South Korea's military has given the information. A few hours later, a joint ballistic missile exercise was conducted by Japan and the US.
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said missiles were fired one after the other for more than 35 minutes from the Sunan area near the North Korean capital Pyongyang. It was also reported that the missiles covered a range of 110 to 670 km.
Japan's Defense Ministry said in a statement that hours later, Japan and the United States conducted a joint ballistic missile exercise. The goal of this exercise can be considered quick response and response to threats. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Won In Chaul held a video conference with General Paul La Camera and reiterated the alliance's joint defense stance. Kamera is an American general who heads the South Korea-US Joint Forces Command in Seoul. US President's Special Envoy to North Korea on the missile test Sung Kim also discussed his visit to Seoul with South Korean officials.
He expressed deep regret at North Korea's continued development of weapons. Japan's Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi said that none of the missiles hit Japan's exclusive economic zone.
South Korea's military increased surveillance as North Korea fired more missiles. The test comes a day after US aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan concluded a three-day naval exercise with South Korea in the Philippine Sea.
South Korean President Eun Suk Aol's office said his national security adviser Kim Sung-han would convene a meeting of the National Security Council to discuss the test. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida called for maximum efforts to gather information about the test and ensure the safety of aircraft and ships. However, there were no immediate reports of damage.
The US Indo-Pacific Command said it was aware of North Korea's multiple ballistic missile tests, but it did not pose an immediate threat to US personnel or the region, or our allies. This test is the 18th in the sequence of North Korea's missile tests in the year 2022. Experts say that this dogma of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is aimed at forcing the US to negotiate economic and security concessions.
