Odisha Cabinet approves 10 percent reservation for ex-Agniveers in uniform services of state
BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday approved 10 percent reservation for ex-Agniveers in uniform services of the state. A proposal to provide 10 per cent allocated reservation of vacancies in police, forest guard, fire service and excise department to ex-Agniveers has been approved. Along with this, two other proposals have also been approved.
After the cabinet meeting over , state Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja said that the proposed rule aims to provide job opportunities to ex-Agniveers in uniform services covering all group 'C' and 'D' posts in the state. This 10 percent reservation will be provided in addition to the existing reservation benefits for ex-servicemen.
He said that Agniveers serve in the army for four years. They have all the necessary training. After completion of four years, extension is given only to some eligible people. But, now Odisha will provide 10 per cent reservation to these Agniveers in similar services.
He said that to be eligible to serve in Odisha police, Agniveers will have to fulfill the minimum qualifications specified in the recruitment rules for the respective posts till the date of receipt of Agniveer certificate. However, they will be exempted from physical efficiency test and will get relaxation of three years in upper age limit.
