PM talks to Manipur CM on landslides as death toll rises to 8

 (FMNews) - Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday spoke to Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on the landslide and assured all possible help from the Centre.

Prime Minister Modi tweeted, "Spoke to the Chief Minister of Manipur Shri N Biren Singh ji and reviewed the situation due to a tragic landslide. Assured all possible help from the Centre. I pray for the safety of all affected. My condolences are with the bereaved families. May God give speedy recovery to the injured."

Atleast 8 bodies have been retrieved so far till now and about 20 people were recued alive.



 Rescue operation by SDRF and NDRF is going on relentlessly to retrieve the mortal remains of the people who have been buried in the landslide occurred in Noney district of Manipur.

 State government officials are overseeing the rescue operations. Dozens of people are reportedly buried alive due to the landslide occurred last night at Tupul Yard Railway Construction Camp in Noney.


Meanwhile, district administration has issued advisory to the people informing nearby villagers to take precautions and advised people to get evacuated at the earliest. The advisory said that the flow of Ezei River has been obstructed by debris creating dam like water storage which if breached may wreak havoc in low lying areas of Noney district.
