Presidential election: NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu reaches Delhi, will file nomination on Friday

NEW DELHI: National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu reached the national capital on Thursday. She will file her nomination papers on Friday, June 24. The preparations for her nomination have started.

Murmu was welcomed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here by Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Arjun Munda, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Dr. Virendra Kumar and BJP leaders Manoj Tiwari, Rambir Singh Bidhuri, Ramesh Bidhuri, BJP Delhi State President Adesh Gupta and many other leaders. did. Murmu has reached the national capital for the first time after being declared the presidential candidate.

Murmu will file her nomination on Friday. On the instructions of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) chief and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, two cabinet ministers of the state government became the proposers. Cabinet ministers Jagannath Sarka and Tukuni Sahu signed Murmu's nomination papers as proposers here today.

Earlier this morning BJP President JP Nadda spoke to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Thereafter, Patnaik tweeted that two state ministers Jagannath Sarka and Tukuni Sahu would be the proposers in Murmu's nomination. After which both the ministers of Odisha signed the nomination papers in Delhi today. Both the ministers will also be present during Murmu's nomination on Friday.

Although Patnaik is currently on a tour of Italy, he had earlier appealed to all the legislators of the state to rise above party lines and support NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu in the presidential election.

Murmu will be the first tribal woman to hold the country's highest office after winning the presidential election. She has previously been the Governor of Jharkhand. She has also been a member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly and a minister.
