Samajwadi Party stalwart Amar Singh is no more

 New Delhi, August 01: Rajya Sabha MP and former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh is no more. Singh (64) succumbed to his illness Saturday afternoon. He was in hospital for a very long time and was undergoing treatment in a Singapore hospital for some months. Earlier, Singh had suffered kidney failure in 2013.

In the morning today, Singh had tweeted tribute to freedom fighter and educationist Bal Gangadhar Tilak on his death anniversary and also wished Eid Al Adha to all his followers.

 

 On March 22, he appealed to his followers through his Twitter handle to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the fight against Covid-19.

On March 2, he had posted a video message, “Tigre Zinda Hai”, to end rumours claiming  that he was dead.

He was once considered SP chief Mulayam Singh’s close confidante. Singh resigned from all positions in SP on January 6, 2010. He had recently tweeted that he won’t ever return to SP.
