Stopping Rahul Gandhi from interacting with students in Bihar is the height of dictatorship : Kharge attacks JDU and BJP

NEW DELHI: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday alleged that preventing Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, from interacting with students in Darbhanga, Bihar, is the height of dictatorship.

Kharge also claimed that the people of Bihar would give a befitting reply to the Janata Dal (United) (JDU) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Police had stopped Rahul Gandhi on Thursday while he was on his way to the Ambedkar Hostel in Darbhanga, though he later entered and interacted with the students.

The administration had granted permission on Wednesday night to hold an "Education Justice Dialogue" programme at the Town Hall, after which the Congress party objected to the denial of permission for the event at the Ambedkar Hostel.

Kharge posted on X, "Is it now against the Constitution to interact with Dalit, deprived, and backward class students? Is it a sin to talk to them about their education, recruitment exams, and jobs?"

He alleged that the JDU-BJP government in Bihar stopping Rahul Gandhi from participating in the "Education Justice Dialogue" programme at the Ambedkar Hostel in Darbhanga is the pinnacle of dictatorship. The Congress President said, "Bihar, the birthplace of democracy, will remember this injustice and, in time, will give a fitting response to JDU and BJP."

Party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi said that stopping Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi from interacting with students at the Ambedkar Hostel in Darbhanga under the "Education Justice Dialogue" program is a "shameful, condemnable, and cowardly act."

She posted on X, "The JDU-BJP alliance government, which has descended into dictatorship, should clarify whether it is a crime for the Leader of Opposition to visit Bihar or to raise the voice of Dalits, backward classes, deprived, and the poor?"

Priyanka Gandhi emphasized that the people of Bihar, the land of justice and revolution, will not tolerate this dictatorship.
