Thousands throng Nalco Nagar to witness Viswakarma puja

 ANGUL:After two years,the gala Biswakarma puja is being celebrated at Nalco township with great fervour and traditional gaiety.There are 17 pandals have been erected this year as against 25 idols worshipped in previous years.

Thousands of people from far and wide have started thronging into Nalco township to see Biswakarma puja. The most attractions of the puja pandals are Cast House-A,Cast House-B,Pot Line,CPP(Operation),Green Anode Plant,Material,Rodding Shop-A,Rolling Plant,Carbon Area(Mechanical),,Mobile Shop.

Prakash Behera,Secretary,Cast House-B said various departments of Nalco have erected  gates and pandals in various designs. All puja pandals are decorated with themes from various mythological and modern subjects in the interior design of the mandaps”.

This year Cast House-A ‘s main gate will be a replica of the Indian parliament .Nalco Potline Puja Committee installed an illuminated gate with the theme of the temple.



 Almost all puja committees have made their gates and pandals in various designs.

Each of the employees  donate money for decoration and other arrangements  during the festival.The employees deduct  amount from their monthly salary for the celebration once in a year.

Kamalesh Kumar,a Nalco employee said ,”We worship  the divine architect, for safe conditions in the plant. Artisans, craftsmen, mechanics, welders, all officers and all other  workers of both Captive Power Plant(CPP) and Smelter Plant  offer prayers to Lord Vishwakarma to ensure smooth functioning of machine parts and their tools”.

How ever,this year,there is  deviation in the puja that there would be no palishree mela like previous years while KVCI  will be set up in the puja. Pandals have exhibited current events like.

Nalco management have taken massive steps to ensure cleansing of the area and drainage system in the township in the occasion of puja. For the smooth and passing of the puja it has also installed  camera across puja mandaps to ensure safety of the people devotees.

Five temporary outposts have been opened in the township. 350 police personnel,including DSP,inspectors, ASIs,70 private security forces and 62 CISF jawans have been deployed in outposts.

The immersion will take place on September 23.
