Trade unionists protest outside Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's residence, police lathicharged

 New Delhi: The Punjab Police lathi-charged the labor union people who were marching towards the residence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in Sangrur. The workers were going towards the Chief Minister's residence protesting against various demands.

According to reports,the workers were  demanding an increase in wages.How ever,as the situation turned tense the protesting workers and trade union members clashed with the police.Police lathi-charged to control the crowd,reports said.

Dramatic footage from the scene showed police stopping flag-waving and slogan-shouting protesters. Farmers of Sanjha Mazdoor Morcha today protested outside the residence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in Sangrur in Punjab. They were demanding to increase the minimum daily wage to Rs.700. The protesters were demanding an increase in the minimum daily wages of agricultural laborers under MNREGA. During this protest, the police lathi-charged the workers and dispersed them.


 According to reports,the pre-announced protests began this morning.Accordingly,the protesters gathered on the Patiala bypass and started marching towards the Chief Minister's residence after being stopped by the police. After this the police used force.

Earlier, these agricultural laborers had protested for 19 days in October. After the government accepted their demands in writing, the laborers agreed to withdraw the farmer's movement.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is campaigning in favor of Aam Aadmi Party candidates for the assembly elections in the western state of Gujarat. Heavy police force has been deployed outside Chief Minister Mann's residence in Sangrur.
