Ukraine has no faith that the Russian Federation - Mykhailo Podolyak

KYIV:During the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Federation has demonstrated a disregard for the rules of war and a lack of humane treatment of civilians in the occupied territories, so there is no faith that the Russian Federation will honor any agreements reached. This was stated by Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak in a comment to the BBC.

According to him, there are currently no peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow. "There are only tracks regarding the exchange of bodies and prisoners of war," Mykhailo Podolyak said.

As Advisor to the Head of the President's Office noted, the Russian state does not observe the rules of waging war or humane treatment of the civilian population in the occupied territories of Ukraine.

"After six months of this war, we cannot continue to believe that the Russian Federation will fulfill any agreements," Mykhailo Podolyak stressed.

He noted that our country will return to negotiations with Russia when a realistic starting point can be seen instead of the Kremlin's ultimatum and the intention to annex all the occupied territories of Ukraine.

According to Mykhailo Podolyak, the goal of Ukraine is to restore the state borders as of March 2014, including Crimea annexed by Russia. Otherwise, there will be no sustainable peace, he summarized.
